Description Did you know not all Mandheling coffee is from Mandheling? During WWII, a Japanese soldier stationed in Sumatra inquired a local Sumatran about their coffee and where it was from. The Sumatran thought he was asking where he was from, so he replied, “Mandheling.” The misinformation then spread all throughout Japan, which then spread across the world, and now has become a generic name for the low acid, complex body coffee produced in North Sumatra.
